Nebraska Homebrew Club Shootout
Nebraska Homebrew Club Shootout is an annual homebrew competition hosted by the OmaHops or Lincoln Lagers.  The event started in 2002 as a friendly competition between the two clubs.  It gave the club members an excuse to get together and sample some of the clubs' finest beers.   Each year four style categories are chosen well in advance.  A fifth category called "Best Damn Beer" (BDB) is an open category.   Overall scoring for the categories is based on a point system.  Each 1st place beer receives 2 points.   Each 2nd place beer receives 1 point.  The same scoring scheme is used in the Best of Show (BOS) round where the top four beers go head to head.   Here's the twist, the winner of the BDB category does not progress to the BOS round, but is used to decide who wins in case of a points tie.  The winning club is awarded a traveling trophy and bragging rights for the next year.
