OmaHops 2000 Club Brew |
In conjunction with National Homebrewing
Day, OmaHops brewed 80 gallons of IPA at Mike Sanford's
home. Club members mashed 200 lbs. of grain to brew a 1.060
IPA with Wyeast 1275 Thames Valley yeast. To a make a brew
of these epic proportions, the following was needed: 150
lbs. of Ashburne Mild ale malt, 30 lbs. Harrington 2-row malt, 5 lbs.
wheat malt, 2.5 lbs. Belgian Munich malt, 2.5 lbs. Belgian Caramunich
malt, and 10 lbs. of Belgian Aromatic malt. Yum, pass the
hops. It took 12.5 ounces of Columbus (one hour in the
kettle). The brew was first wort hopped with 15 ounces of
that wonderful Slovenian hop, Styrian Golding. |
